Description
Dexter Russell No Work Sharpening Steel Set – Smooth + Coarse 2-Pack – 7820 & 7830
The Dexter Russell No Work Sharpening Steel Set is the complete edge-maintenance pairing for any working kitchen or butchery. The set brings together both 10"/25cm No Work steels — the smooth (7820) for daily honing and the coarse (7830) for edge restoration — at a saving of $9.95 against buying the two separately. Two American-made tools, one purchase, full coverage between sharpenings.
Daily honing on the smooth steel keeps a working edge from rolling, while occasional passes on the coarse steel pull the edge back to bite without going to a stone. Run together, the pair will dramatically extend the time between full stone sharpenings.
At Outback Edge Imports, we offer this set because most working kitchens benefit far more from owning both steels than buying one and assuming it covers all sharpening needs.
What's in the Set
-
1 × Dexter Russell No Work Sharpening Steel 10"/25cm – Smooth (7820) — the daily honing steel. Polished rod realigns rolled edges. No metal removal, so it preserves blade life.
-
1 × Dexter Russell No Work Sharpening Steel 10"/25cm – Coarse (7830) — the working sharpener. Aggressive cut pattern removes a light layer of metal, restoring an edge that has dulled past hone-back.
- Both with green polypropylene handles and hanger rings for line storage.
- Both made in the USA at Dexter Russell’s Massachusetts factory, established 1818.
- Both backed by the Dexter Russell Lifetime Warranty.
Why Buy Both
A smooth steel and a coarse steel do completely different jobs, and most working kitchens need both. The smooth 7820 is the tool you reach for between every few cuts to keep an already-sharp knife performing. The coarse 7830 is what you reach for when a knife has stopped cutting cleanly and a smooth steel can no longer bring it back.

Care Advice
Wipe both rods down after each shift with a clean dry cloth. The polypropylene handles are dishwasher tolerant, but hand washing with warm soapy water will extend the life of the printed branding and keep the rods in better long-term condition. Use the smooth steel daily for ongoing edge maintenance. Step up to the coarse steel only when the smooth can no longer bring the edge back.
Warranty
Both steels are backed by the Dexter Russell Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Outback Edge Imports is an authorised Australian stockist and will assist with any warranty claim directly.
